Benefits Manager

Job Summary:

We’re looking for a Benefits Manager who will evaluate and administer our company health and welfare programs.  The Benefits Manager will also coordinate annual enrollment, negotiate with benefit plan representatives, administer leave programs, and effectively disseminate benefits related information to employees.  This is a very hands-on role that offers variety on a daily basis.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Ensures all benefits plans, leaves of absence, and COBRA are administered appropriately
  • Ensures that the benefits data, including deductions, in the HRIS system is current and accurate
  • Provides functional guidance, direction, and education to all levels of employees regarding benefits
  • Provides a high level of customer service, timeliness, and efficiency
  • Manages annual open enrollment process, including communications
  • Partners with Finance and IES leadership regarding benefits decisions
  • Performs ongoing audits for benefit deductions through payroll and remittances to carriers
  • Administers associate leaves of absence including FMLA, ADA, Workers’ Compensation, personal, and military
  • Coordinates Workers’ Compensation program and OSHA 300 filing
  • Works with HR Leader and internal departments to maximize plan performance and the employee experience, as well as continually improving processes
  • Prepares written employee communications, meetings, and presentations
  • Serves as back up for other HR functions

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or equivalent experience is required
  • 3-5 years’ experience administering medical, dental, life and disability plans, leaves of absence, and COBRA
  • Benefits or HR Certification highly preferred
  • Experience working with brokers and carriers to evaluate plans and escalate issues
  • Compensation and/or HR Generalist experience preferred
  • Experience coordinating open enrollments and special enrollments
  • Working knowledge of HRIS and Payroll systems; preferably UltiPro, with the ability to run and audit reports
  • Superior organizational, communicational, and customer service skills
