The Department of Emergency Medicine at John Peter Smith Health Network in Fort Worth, Texas is seeking an energetic core faculty physician to join their expanding department. The program at JPS was established in 2011 as a fully accredited three-year program with 15 residents per class. JPS is recognized as the only Level 1 Trauma Center for Tarrant County, as well as a comprehensive level 1 stroke center. Seeing over 130,000 patient visits per year, the county hospital population provides incredible learning opportunities in both volume and pathology. The department supports fellowships in ultrasound, administration, street medicine, and education.

Emergency Department

  • Admission Rate: 23%

  • Capacity: 
    • ED Beds: 65
  • Shift Coverage: 
    • Physician:
      • 90 – 94 hours of physician coverage daily
      • The mix of 8, 10, and 12-hour overlapping shifts
    • APP:
      • Main ED and Fast Track rotations
      • 10-hour shifts with overlapping coverage
      • 50 – 60 hours of coverage

Required Qualifications

  • Ideal candidates will have an established track record in education, teaching, research, recent scholarly activity, and outstanding clinical service.
  • The candidate must be board certified in Emergency Medicine (ABEM/ABOEM) and completion of an accredited residency program in Emergency Medicine.
  • Prior experience in residency leadership preferred clinical and scholarly activity in accordance with ACGME requirements for programs in Emergency Medicine.
  • Demonstrated interest and aptitude for residency education in Emergency Medicine.
