Urgent Surgery Associates, P.A. (URSA) provides coverage for all emergent surgery needs at Baylor University Medical Center. Join us as we look to expand Trauma and Acute Care Surgery across the region.
Baylor University Medical Center (BUMC) is a nationally recognized, faith-based, not-for-profit hospital that cares for more than 300,000 people each year. In 1903, the hospital opened with 25 beds; today it is a major patient care, teaching and research center for the Southwest. BUMC Dallas has 914 licensed beds and serves as the flagship hospital of Baylor Scott & White Health – North Texas.
BUMC is a comprehensive Level I Trauma Center, one of only three adult trauma centers in Dallas, covering 21 counties (18,000 square miles) and over five million residents. The trauma services division has dedicated trauma and stroke teams, providing 24-hour coverage of emergency services. The Riggs Emergency Department, with more than 75,000 square feet and 85 patient treatment rooms, has dedicated areas specifically for trauma care, physician referral and minor emergency care.
Urgent Surgery Associates (URSA)
Dallas Fort Worth, TX
Comprised of 15 physicians and 20 Advanced Practitioners, our goal at Urgent Surgery Associates is to provide excellent patient care centered on serious and acute general surgery.
While our historical focus has been on trauma care at Baylor University Medical Center, our expertise in managing the acute and unexpected critically ill patient has allowed our practice to evolve to that of “surgical hospitalist” and acute care surgeon. While primarily hospital-based, we remain available for providing care and consultation for a variety of non-urgent general surgery.
Offering both big-city excitement and quiet, suburban living, the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area has an interesting mix of Texas pride and cosmopolitan attractions. Fort Worth or “Cowtown” is home to numerous cultural and entertainment options, including the nationally ranked Fort Worth Zoo, a world-class museum district, the Bass Performance Hall, the Historic Stockyards District, Sundance Square, and the Texas Motor Speedway.
Dallas, the ninth largest city in the US is known to have the best shopping in the Southwest, fine restaurants, 13 entertainment districts and home to the State Fair of Texas. Dallas has the largest urban arts district in the nation spanning 19 continuous blocks, featuring the Dallas Museum of Art, Nassar Sculpture Garden and the Perot Museum to name a few.
Travel the world – Dallas-Fort Worth offers easy access to two major airports, DFW International Airport and Love Field.
People from all demographics relocate to the area, mostly due to our great economic climate and international brands calling DFW home (American Airlines, Frito Lay and Toyota, just to name a few). As proof, the population has swelled from just over 5 million people in 2005 to more than 7 million people in 2018.
