Wednesday, October 7, 2020
5:30pm - 8:00pm

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Join us for the IES Clinical Integration Forum on the topic of Ethics and Standards of Care in Pain Management. This forum will focus on multimodal pain therapies, how to distinguish the difference between acute pain vs. drug-seeking behavior, and how to effectively communicate with your patients as it relates to the safety aspects of opiate prescribing. Benjamin Morrissey, MD, attending physician at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas, will discuss state-of-the-art multimodal analgesia techniques and review key elements in safe pain management with patients at the time of discharge. Eric Chou, MD, Director of Research and Ultrasound at BSWH – All Saints, will introduce evidence that supports the new PMP approved practices of opiate prescribing and identifying drug-seeking behaviors. Drew Shedd, MD, FACEP, Emergency Medicine Residency Program Director at BSWH – All Saints, and Scott Kurpiel, MD, MBA, FAAEM, FACEP, Director of Emergency Ultrasound at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas, will demonstrate the use of ultrasound-guided nerve blocks to reduce the utilization of controlled substances.

LIVE STREAMING EDUCATION

We are pleased to announce that we have received approval from ACEP to award CME credit to IES physicians and APPs who participate in a live video stream at designated IES affiliated hospitals.

When registering, participants will select a hospital to attend the forum in person to view the live video stream. Once registration is submitted, physicians and APPs will receive a calendar invitation from a Practice Administrator that will include site-specific details based on the hospital selected. We hope this will provide a more convenient and safe educational experience.
